About Me

Vicki J Duran

As a young girl, being labeled the ‘chubby kid’ stuck with me, shaping how I saw myself for years. I tried every diet I could nd, but nothing worked, and the frustration grew as the weight piled on. By my twenties, I was struggling with low confidence, avoiding social events, and feeling completely stuck.

Everything changed when two fellow nurses introduced me to mountain biking. On that first ride, something clicked—I felt free, strong, and alive. For the first time, exercise wasn’t a punishment; it was pure joy. But I soon realized that true health wasn’t just about moving my body—it was also about what I was fueling it with.

Even after discovering mountain biking and fitness, I still faced chronic headaches, bouts of asthma, ongoing fatigue, and depression. My energy was inconsistent, and my reliance on sugar and candy—especially during those long night shifts at the hospital—only made things worse. The weight still wasn’t where I wanted it to be, and I knew that something had to change.

Through years of trial, error, and guidance from some great mentors and my nutritional education, I finally came to understand that wellness was so much more than losing weight— it was about creating a lifestyle that made me feel alive, energized, and strong. I stopped focusing on restrictive diets and started building a balanced, nourishing way of eating that supported my body and made me feel fantastic. Now, I maintain a healthy weight, feel confident at social events, and enjoy every moment of life without constantly worrying about food or how I look.

This journey taught me that wellness is a lifelong, joyful commitment — one that’s about health, resilience, and loving yourself at every stage. And that’s exactly what I want for every woman I work with. I’m here to help women over 50 reclaim their energy, health, and confidence, so they can step out into the world feeling like the strong, beautiful women they truly are.

I just nished the Healthier and Happier After 50 program created by Vicki Duran. It was amazing! I learned so much more than healthy eating. (Although that was really important). I found it to be a multi-level learning program that felt very personal and relatable! It teaches having a purposeful mindset as I go through my day as opposed to the ‘just get through’ the day feeling.
I think Vicki’s approach is unique because she incorporates her medical knowledge with a no-judgment, hopeful outlook and tools to enjoy life and the future. "Due to circumstances in my life, I was stuck. I had 50 pounds that I needed to lose and due to neck and back pain, I needed a breast reduction. I met with the surgeon. He said that I was a prime candidate for the procedure but I needed to lose 20 pounds first.
I started working weekly with Vicki going through the dierent modules. It has been a journey that has changed everything. Losing weight became an enjoyable experience because I wasn’t just changing physically, but I changed mentally. For me, I had to get my thinking straight before I could make changes. Then in my thirties, I was diagnosed with Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) which led to weight gain, insulin resistance and eventually type 2 diabetes, making it nearly impossible to maintain a healthy weight.

"I am so delighted to have Vicki’s help in changing my habits. Since childhood, sugar has always been a huge part of my diet. When I relied on sugar for energy, it provided only a temporary boost, and I found myself eating it all day long just to keep going.
